Special vertical three-zone split tube furnace




  • Maximum operating temperature : 1200°C
  • Heated length : 300mm over 3 zones
  • Heat up rate : up to 20°C / minute
  • Temperature uniformity : +5°C or better over a length of 200mm at temperatures above 650°C (measurements taken with an empty chamber and all holes insulated)
  • The furnace end insulation discs are bored out to 30mm diameter.  The heating chamber has an internal diameter of 90mm.
  • Heating elements : Wire elements embedded in ceramic fibre.  Each end of the furnace is insulated with 90mm of ceramic fibre board
  • The furnace is supplied without a stand, but has M6 threaded holes on 190mm PCD in the end caps for customer mounting
  • Cut- out : a 1200mm (h) x 10mm(w) cut-out at the centre point of the furnace allows entry of an extensometer. A bracket for mounting the extensometer is fitted
  • Temperature control : Each zone is controlled by a Eurotherm 3508P1 advanced set-point programmer with 20 free-format segments.  Scrolling text provides additional information of current status.  RS 232 communications is included.
  • Three-zone control : The three zone controls is achieved using retransmission of set-point by master-comms.  Each instrument is digitally connected and the centre zone controller digitally retransmits the set-point to the end zone instruments, which adjust their temperature accordingly.  Stable operation over the whole temperature range is enabled by the 'gain schedule' facility in the control instruments.  This allows up to 3 different set of PID control terms to be used, which automatically switch over at pre-determined temperatures.  This also allows as least 3 different output power settings
  • Temperature sensors : type N thermocouples
  • Safety switch : this cuts power to the elements when the furnace is opened.  This is supplied with an appropriate cam bracket/actuator for the customer to fit the furnace brackets

  • Heated length 300mm over three zones, internal diameter of 90mm
  • Maximum temperature 1200°C, maximum continuous operating temperature 1150°C
  • Heat up rate of up to 20°C per minute
  • Uniformity of +5°C over centre 200mm zone at temperatures above 650°C
  • Elements: spiral wire coil elements embedded into vacuum formed ceramic fibre half cylinders, arranged in 3 zone control
  • Split tube design allows easy loading/unloading of the test work piece & also allows complete retraction of the assembly when not required
  • Cut out provided for entry of an extensometer
  • Supplied without a stand but has M6 threaded holes on 190mm PCD in the end caps for customer mounting
  • The unit is supplied with three zone controller (type Eurotherm 3508P1) and RS232 digital communications
  • The temperature controller is located in a remote control box, which can be conveniently mounted, and is connected to the furnace by two metres of flexible conduit
  • Type N thermocouple

  • Elements: spiral wire coil elements embedded into vacuum formed ceramic fibre half cylinders, arranged in single zone control which ensures a uniformly controlled central zone
  • Split tube design allows easy loading and unloading of the test work piece and also allows complete retraction of the assembly when not required
  • The furnace is normally supported via a 100mm diameter split bearing mounted around the machine cross head supports, but alternative mounting arrangements can be considered
  • Dual display PID temperature controller (type Eurotherm 3216CC)
  • The temperature control is located in a remote control box, which can be conveniently mounted, and is connected to the furnace by two metres of flexible conduit
  • Type R thermocouple
  • 220-240 volts single phase, 1.1kW
